Overview
The city of Langford, also known as the Western Communities is the urban core of the West Shore. The community rests on the foothills of Mount Finlayson. It was incorporated in 1992 and has since grown rapidly, becoming one of the fastest-growing municipalities in Canada. Langford building style matches the surrounding landscape with mountains on one side, ocean on the other and three large lakes in between, those being Thetis lake, Langford Lake, Glen Lake and Florence Lake satisfying your recreational needs. With land area of approximately 40 square kilometers, Langford has a mix of urban and rural areas, with a wide range of recreational and cultural opportunities, as well as a strong economy. Langford is known for its natural beauty and proximity to Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia.
Corresponding to the municipal city of Langford and sub-divided into 17 neighbourhoods, the district of Langford also includes Olympic view and Bear Mountain developments.
With all this ambition, Langford’s main attraction is not man-made, Goldstream Provincial Park is lined with old growth forest where visitors will school together as they head towards the mouth of the Saanich Inlet to witness the annual Salmon run in November, or as they prepare to hike up Mt Finlayson, or along it’s base with Mountain bike trails.

History
Named after Captain Edward Langford who established one of the Hudson Bay’s Company farms (one of 4 in Victoria). Langford has seen the most growth since incorporating in 1992.
